You probably know it's customary to eat round challah on Rosh Hashanah (begins Wed. 10/2/24). But did you know that we also eat it through the end of Sukkot (10/23/24)? That's about 3 weeks of round challah. Now's a great time to brush up on your round challah skills.
If you're new to challah baking or looking for round braids that go beyond the most basic, but are not over-the-top complicated, then this challah class is for you!
This year's High Holiday Challah class will be presented in 2 parts, designed for you to work along with me in real time. If you braid along with me, your challah will be baked before sunset and ready to enjoy or freeze for the holidays.
Part I is a dough making tutorial using my Yummy, Eggy Challah Recipe with Honey. Part II is the braiding part. We will focus on the 4-Strand Round Braid. Once you know the pattern, it's not difficult to make slight adjustments, giving you endless variations. I'll teach you the basic pattern and a few variations to provide you with countless options to add to your holiday traditions.

Part I - Dough. 9-10 am Pacific (12-1 Eastern)
Make your dough along with me or just watch! I will guide you through making delicious challah dough using my yummy, eggy recipe, adapted to include honey (for a sweet new year!). I’ll share my best tips & techniques for making delicious and beautiful challah year round. With open Q&A time before and after.

Part II - Braiding. 11:30 am - 12:30 pm Pacific (2:30-3:30 Eastern)
Braid along with me, or just watch! I’ll teach you the 4-Strand Round Braid with several variations. As always, I will go nice and slow, explaining the pattern as I go. Once you're comfortable with the pattern, you can try the variations for endless design options!
